Why Thraya

Childhood is a gift we protect

At Thraya, we value childhood as a precious gift, one to be protected, nurtured and cherished, knowing that the early years shape the foundation of a lifetime.

Drawing from the century-old wisdom of Waldorf philosophy, we weave its principles into the fabric of school life from Kindergarten through the grades, so that children grow not only academically but as self-aware and responsible individuals. Thraya is a Waldorf-inspired kindergarten and grade school in Janwada, Hyderabad, currently welcoming children from Nursery to Grade 2, with a new grade opening each year up to Grade 10.

The rhythm of the day

A day that breathes in and out

In a Waldorf classroom, the day alternates between moments of gathering in and moments of opening out, akin to breathing, and this rhythm remains the same through the year so that children find comfort and security in knowing what comes next.

Kindergarten and Grade School

Two stages, one unhurried path

Aligned with the seven-year cycles of child development, learning at Thraya changes its form as the child grows, while the reverence for childhood remains the same.

Message from the founders

Why we began Thraya

Over the years, we have begun to notice an unsettling shift in the true essence of education where disconnected learning experiences were unintentionally affecting children. We strongly believe that school should be a place where children feel safe, where they belong, and where they grow into individuals who are free in thought and responsible in action.

As we wondered how to address this challenge, we found deep resonance in the Waldorf philosophy which approaches education in harmony with children's natural growth and capacity to learn. Inspired by the approach that emphasises human development, creativity and reverence for childhood, we began to shape Thraya together with others who believed in the same purpose.

My daughter loves going to school, and loves the wonderful campus, the kind teachers, the outdoor play time, the daily activities like cooking, gardening, water painting. There is a very visible difference in my daughter's happiness, confidence, independence and overall development.

Thraya is a place where kids can experience slow and joyful learning which is very much required in this fast moving world. The building blends into the nature quite smooth that it provides the outdoor time for the kids very effortlessly.
